I am just curious, how does everyone inform their residents about activities or events in their facility or community? We have two whiteboard that have the daily activities including time and location, as well as a large monthly calendar that we keep up to date as well as our printed monthly calendar. We do door knock and go grab the residents who need more assistance. I am just wondering if there are other ways as I am new to this role.
I passed out the weekly calendar to those who wanted them I also announced the activity about a half an hour before it began We would take residents to the activity We always ask them three times before we gave up I always have a lot of people at an activity If not perhaps you need to eliminate it from the calendar I always bring up new activities at resident Council meetings

We use all of these as well! A printed calendar goes into every resident's rooms. We also tell the charge nurse every morning what the daily activities are so she can encourage staff to invite residents, too. Our unit has stopped making overhead announcements because it was a bit disruptive to some residents.
Ours is a day center and we have calendars on the bulletin boards . We recently added a white board on the serving counter with actives of the day and time.
I put a calendar in each resident's room and on all the notice boards. Some residents also like to keep a copy in their walker basket for reference. I also send a pdf copy to all families on the Friday afternoon so they can see what it on the calendar for the coming week.
Hi I put a weekly schedule in each room with a larger schedule on both notice boards. I also advertise with posters weekly on the boards and lounge doors so they cee the posters, word of mouth during the day is a must as well.
Make morning announcements over PA system and times of activities. We also have a big calendar board in the main hallway with everyday activities for the month and their times. Reminding them also at the end of morning activity, but announcing again 30 minutes prior to activity.

We put the monthly calendar up in the main dining room, however weekly calendars are also delivered and placed in the rooms for those residents who are interested in this. We then have a special events noticeboard of each weekly performance or something different that may be coming up. As with everyone above me, it’s word of mouth and also the white board in the dining room. I list what’s on that day, Times and of course the day and date at the top.
Hi we do a monthly calendar delivered to each individual, white board with daily activities by each activity room, invite and encourage the residents for each program and we also have an activity reminder on our phone system for the families and residents plus we recently started put up big activity programs occuring that month on our tv by the elevators for all to see.
I just LOVE the multicultural section of this fabulous website. I work as a Activities Director at a day service facility and we are currently closed due to COVID! I am mailing/delivering personalized packages to our clients. We have clients of many different cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Adding pages of color-printed information from their country really brightens their day. The family members/care givers are delighted to see a spark in their loved ones eyes when they see and read about their history. I am becoming so educated myself learning all this. It will help me when we get back to work striking a spark in our clients eye when I reminisce with them about their culture. I seriously can NOT get enough of this fantastic site. xoxo :-)
