Would you please give me some ideas scenic drive ideas for Melbourne. These residents don't have Dementia. Some of them have walkers and would find it hard to move around alot.
Hi Mardi Some ideas depending on how far you wish to travel and where you're coming from! There are lots of good drives around the Yarra Valley. Our people loved Rayners Orchard, where they can board a tractor (easy to get on and off) for a great tour and fruit tasting. Lavender farm, Yarra Valley chocolaterie. Tarrawarra has beautiful views, as does Riverstone winery. Most of the wineries with restaurants are lovely just for coffee and cake without the alcohol! Cranbourne gardens have a "garden explorer" that you can hire out for your entire group to take you around - can't vouch for how easy it is to get on and off as it's on our "to do list" for this year. Closer in - Beasley's nursery in Warrandyte is a lovely spot to wander or just sit for coffee if walking is too difficult.
You could head up to Port Melbourne and watch the boats/ships come in. You can google Melbourne Port Authority to get Cruise Ship berth times. It's also a great drive along the Esplanade through St Kilda to Pt Melb. Lovely Palm trees, Luna Park, people watching, kites and windsurfers. Great views across to the west and the city too.
Thank you for many years of wonderful ideas that you have given me through Golden Carers. Your ideas and opportunities for networking with other activities people have been a great resource for me to access. Wishing your wonderful organisation all the best.
