We are having the nursery children joining us for a 30 minutes of our session after our Easter Service .The room will be quite crowded! Has anyone got any ideas for songs or activities on Easter or Springtime that we can do?
Hi Clare It is so nice that you have young children visiting the residents I know they will love it I think a sing-along is a nice idea because doesn't take up that much space you need to sing songs that they are all familiar with Here is an idea from Golden Carers https://www.goldencarers.com/themed-sing-along---songs-starting-with-im-/3715/ You could sing songs like here comes Peter Cottontail and Hot cross buns Before you start you may want to have the kids jump in place like a bunny because they can get restless You could talk about nursery rhymes and say them Let everyone join in Here are some nice activities on Golden Carers https://www.goldencarers.com/nursery-rhymes-quiz/3905 https://www.goldencarers.com/finish-the-nursery-rhymes/5733/ You could also read an interactive short story about Easter such as the Easter donkey or read a chicken soup for the soul Easter story such as the Easter dress Make sure it is interactive and not too long Let me know if you need more ideas
I thought of a few more ideas you can play I spy similar to this except instead of thinking of things you see on an outing think of things that are in the room that you will be in https://www.goldencarers.com/i-spy/5516/ Or play Simon says but instead of Simon the Easter bunny says
We have the pre school children visit us twice weekly for about 30 mins and our clients love it. We sing songs that the children pick and then they ask our residents to name a song they would like to sing so we get a mix of old and young. Lego goes down really well building with the children who talk about what they've built. We all love out visits and we go to the pre school for sports day and afternoon tea. Our clients loved giving out medals to the children at sports day.

Bunny bowling? We have pre-schoolers visit us 1x/mo and they partner up with one of our participants and they go up together to do the active group. Active groups always go well with us!
we have a group come to us twice a month. During special occasions, like Easter, we do biscuit decorating. We use milk arrowroot biscuits as they are shaped like an Easter egg and involve both groups in making the icing and decorating the biscuits. I have an array of different coloured sprinkles and other toppings to use e.g. mini m&ms etc. The best part is they get to eat their creations which is always a popular treat! Other thinks I have done making book marks which involves colouring and laminating. i always find having something the children can take away with them is always a success and great talking point.
I love Golden Carers it is a fabulous resource. It has made my life so much easier, so that in turn does wonders for my clients. The work that you put in to helping us all is wonderful please don’t give up.
Is it worth the money? You betcha it is. My clients love the quizzes and we have many laughs and it opens up many a thoughtful discussion on life as an older person. I thank you so much when l am stuck for ideas l just jump onto GOLDEN CARERS. Have a great day and keep up the great work.

Here is an idea from Golden Carers

You could sing songs like here comes Peter Cottontail and Hot cross buns
Before you start you may want to have the kids jump in place like a bunny because they can get restless
You could talk about nursery rhymes and say them
Let everyone join in
Here are some nice activities on Golden Carers
