I am brand new to this site and to Activities Director at a Senior Citizen Day Service Facility. I am beyond excited to fill up our calendar with fun filled activities, crafts and events. We are reopening July 6th with limited clients at first. All new rules and regulations. Each client is receiving their own personalized plastic storage box with lid (size of a boot box) to store their items etc.. I have read TONS of clever ideas here on this site but if any one wants to share with me any particular activities or crafts that work best with limited attendance also including social distance and cognitive impairments, I would appreciate it profusely! Hugs and Happiness xoxo Mary Lynn
Hi Mary Lynn First of all congratulations on your new position I am sure you will do a great job I would talk to the residents that are there and see what they like to do You can have wonderful activities but if no one likes to do them what good are they I think you want to do things to get to know the residents Here are some ideas https://www.goldencarers.com/my-life-timeline/5990/ You can make the timeline the size of the box and put it on that when they’re done You can also do exercise if the residents like doing that although I think exercise is a good idea and you can convince the residents of this You can have the residents make props that they can use for the exercise group They can keep those in their box also https://www.goldencarers.com/exercise/ Another good idea is to have a sing-along Let the residents pick the songs they like and then you can make some sheets for each person which they could decorate or not They can also keep them in their box
Thank you so much for reliable and wonderfully presented resources for all occasions. A must-go to for all working in Aged Care homes. Our team at Parkview Aged care Home are always finding inspiration from your website. Thank you!

First of all congratulations on your new position
I am sure you will do a great job
I would talk to the residents that are there and see what they like to do
You can have wonderful activities but if no one likes to do them what good are they
I think you want to do things to get to know the residents
Here are some ideas
https://www.goldencarers.com/my-life-timeline/5990/
You can make the timeline the size of the box and put it on that when they’re done
You can also do exercise if the residents like doing that although I think exercise is a good idea and you can convince the residents of this
You can have the residents make props that they can use for the exercise group
They can keep those in their box also

Another good idea is to have a sing-along
Let the residents pick the songs they like and then you can make some sheets for each person which they could decorate or not
They can also keep them in their box
