It is nice to see that life goes on for different parts of the world and in the United States. Our holidays have been heartbreaking. COVID hit our building around Thanksgiving time and made its rounds to every floor. Today I typed a list of residents who have passed away. We are at 23. I cry everyday and wonder how much longer I can do this. I know I am not the only one who has faced this. I pray for the day when life is more normal, residents can come out of their rooms, and I hear laughter in the building. I believe that we have to have a big heart to work in activities. I also think that is why the hurt is so deep. Not trying to depress anyone...just got sad reading all of the plans and activities people have been able to do. Don't get me wrong, I am happy for all of you. I pray that day comes for my residents. God bless you all.
Hi Lisa I feel for you as I’m sure others do Have the residents gotten their coronavirus vaccine yet?? This will go along way in getting back to normal I think you could have a memorial service for residents and staff which may make everyone feel a little better
Hi Lisa, it is good that you can express your feelings, don't apologize. Losing residents is heartbreaking. Let's hope that the new year brings better times for us all. Keep safe, and happy New Year.
Hi Susan. We haven't had the vaccines offered in our area yet. We are all in waiting mode. We are surrounded by four other nursing homes/assisted living facilities who are waiting as well. Thank you for the attachments. I will be looking at them today. I know that time heals...but the response from you and Solange helped as well. Thank you!
We actually went through the same outbreak in early April. The worst thing I have ever dealt with and we still have PTSD from it. I will tell you that we learned so much and have been able to stop the outbreaks and have been COVID free for many months now, so there is hope for you. One things that stands out for me is most days we were just lucky to make it through the day, the most important take away is that you support your team and each other. Everyone comes to work and still has a family to worry about, so there are layers of scared that affect you. Just know that you are strong and because you care so much you will make it through this...the quote that helped me the most was..."Courage doesn't always roar, sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow." Blessings sent to you and your team! Heaven is cheering you on - today, tomorrow and forever! Jeanne
I absolutely love this website and get most of my daily activities from it. Love the monthly diary too. It has so much to offer for different stages of dementia residents. I love the artwork, games, and quizzes which we use every day. People are constantly asking where do I get my ideas. Thank you so much!
