Hi, we have an intergenerational program with a local daycare but due to lockdowns we have been unable to have them visit or us visit them. I am looking for suggestions of things we could do while we can't have visits to keep our bond alive. Thanks in advance.
Hi Cathy it is so nice that you had that connection Three things come to mind Letters with pictures A teleconference with their pictures being shown as you speak Some kind of video conference depending on the technology either is zoom conference or FaceTime or Facebook It is likely that the children will be able to draw pictures and make cards to send to the residents
Hi Cathy, could you do a Hall Singalong? Residents would sit at the door of their bedrooms in the Hallway and sing together with you as a leader. Music is a quintessential activity for everyone and especially for people in care. It can bring so much joy and promotes good feelings. Keep safe.
Once again Golden Carers has come to the rescue. I live in a retirement village and calling on my years as a Diversional Therapist I constantly use the Golden Carers for new ideas to run my group in the village. I especially love the Read Aloud Audience Participation activity and I always pick a very shy resident to take a part. It is amazing how much it brings them out of their shell. The quiz always helps keeps their minds active and gives them such a feeling of self worth when they get a correct answer.
