Hi Sianne: Maybe an armchair travel activity to Normandy. Or read a short history for this day in history and ask the residents if they remember where they were when they first heard of the invasion in Normandy. Or maybe an arts and crafts project of each of the flags involved in dday (Canada, British, and America)
We had a special D Day Invasion Quiz which was very interesting to the residents and D Day remembrance was mentioned in our Grace before the meal. I have forwarded the Quiz to Golden Carers to share it with everybody. Owen
Loving golden carers I joined April and it’s already helped me loads We have VE Day coming up and I am going to make salt dough poppies with the residents but any other ideas will be really welcome thanks
Hello Sianne, Due to our residents still in isolation our cook is providing a special lunch (which will be served in their rooms) dating back to that time. I have printed off a picture of people celebrating, laminated them for use as tray mats, small flags stuck on cut down drinking straws to place in puddings. I printed off ration book covers and placed the menu inside which I will deliver the day before so residents will be able to make their choice of meal. Vera Lynn CD will be played along the corridors during the course of the meal. Hope that your day goes well?
Since you're from England you could focus on the British involvement in the operation. I'm doing a presentation that features information on the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion which was attached to the 6th British Parachute Brigade.
I just have to tell you that your word search puzzles are perfect! The right font, print - everything. You even add a little picture on them that adds interest. You've really improved on them and I am eternally grateful. So are my clients!
