I’m looking for some tips on how to get my seniors at an assisted living community, more active. They have art classes and the typical card games and bingo but I can’t seem to get their interest peaked about other activities.
Hi Kathryn Have you had a meeting to discuss the interest of the people you want to go to the activity? Have you tried playing bunco? https://www.goldencarers.com/bunco-dice-game-for-seniors/5724/ Have you considered music activity? Is there listening to music or singing? Food is a great a great motivator to get people involved cookinny or as a snack, bar part of another activity What about an exercise group or a spiritual activity group? Let me know which of these the people in the group might be interested in and I will give you further details
You can do a drumming circle with exercise balls, drumsticks, maracas, and tambourines. I would suggest some upbeat music that would get them moving and grooving. You can also checkout YouTube for inspiration I hope this works for you.
Thank you for all the wonderful ideas. Never disappointed when looking for inspiration when logging on to Golden Carers. We are so fortunate to have access to so many different ideas to use on a daily basis. Cannot thank you all enough for the wonderful work you do putting all those resources at our fingertips.
