Hi, does anyone have experience in starting up a choir with residents (and staff) in residential aged care? Please let me know your tips and ideas. Much appreciated, Annemarie
Yes I stared up a choir at work then invited all residents family into listen to them sing this was a huge success. Residents felt very proud of the themselves gave them something to look forward to each week as we practice our song's. I let them chose a name of their choir then came the discussion of a uniform for the main event, I let resident have a get amount of say as this was there show. Black Pants or Skirt ,White top then we had a colourful scarf they really looked great. This gave them so much confidence they where like new people. Hope all goes well for you. I have so much more to tell you about this if you need anymore help please email me . Julianne
Hi Annemarie, you may be interested in Dr. Loretta Quinn, and her music for seniors CDs, including "Among my Souvenirs", also one for choirs. Check out her website.
I am loving the Golden Carers membership. I am finding great resources that I used on the first day of membership. The membership is of much value working as both an Activities Director, and also an Activities Consultant. I look forward to continuing to use the site and also the forum.
