Solange, I find it difficult to get my residents to participate in activities such as puzzles or quizzes... I have tried a number of times only to get blank stares when I ask the questions, which is upsetting bcoz I feel that I must be doing something wrong? Even asking questions that relate to them personally, such as what is your favourite type of food, or favourite thing to do, or music they just do not or perhaps cannot respond?
I would love to leave the session feeling satisfied & feeling that I have done my job well but most days I do not... Which is sad for all concerned.
The residents all have varying stages of dementia/alzheimers as well as physical ailments.
Can you offer any suggestions as to what I might try to break the ice & initiate some motivation??? Much appreciated.
