Hi, I would like some ideas for a gentleman that is bedridden, he has a progressive brain disease which has created Dementia. Because we spend 24 hr round the clock assistance I would like some ideas on activities to stimulate him when he is awake. He doesn't talk, you can work out when he likes and dislike something, his hands are quite stiff and tight, any ideas would be great,

Many thanks Jenny

Hi Jenny

The first one that comes to mind for me is hand massage to help him feel relaxed and connected. Fiddle blankets or cushions are fabulous too. If he is able - give him a container of coloured pegs and encourage him to sort their colours and peg them onto the edge of containers. Another activity is threading large pasta or even screwing nuts onto bolts.

I would be interested to hear how you go,

Tania

I have been so thrilled to get the tips and ideas on dealing with Seniors across the board. Golden Carers has really helped me the past few months. Thank you!
