Lucky Dog Card Game

we also play this game for our residents, but we call it whoopie instead. they have a blast playing it. And the winner either gets to pick out prizes or some days we play for quarters, and we play 6 games and then we play 2 more games but if they win, they get 50 cents.

The Great Zombie Hunt

I've done a version of this for the past few years and it's been a big hit. About 10 days before Halloween I will hide 31 zombie pictures (laminated and about 2x3.5 inches in size) through our building (both easy and hard locations) and have residents turn them in at our Halloween Carnival for a prize. They get really into it and have zombie-hunting parties looking for them. My activity assistants bring the residents from our Memory care on zombie hunts during their walk times during the week. All the zombies are numbered and I write down the locations I hid them at. If they come to other activities throughout the week, I'll give them hints to locations as well. It's been a lot of fun

Name the Carpentry Tools

I like this idea of various tools, and could add to this with items from our home toolbox to add to the program.

In past years, I created a program of "hammers" . Where they originated from, and several types. I placed them on my activity cart, and displayed to each of the Residents. Everything from Fire hammers (break into buildings on fire) ; Railroad hammers; to small Tin - Bashing hammers. It sparked a great amount of discussion and reminisce about former jobs. And my manager was impressed with ingenuity and creativity.

Portable Activity Ideas to Reach Every Resident, Everyday

I am just starting activities in a long term stay hospital ward. I plan to do afternoon teas with China cups and saucers and a cake plate with carry handel that i made myself. This can be done in a single room with the resident and family member or in the group ward with a few people at a time.I also have a tablecloth with a world map on it. This brings out
so much discussion about where they have worked or gone on holiday and my plan is to introduce flags for the different countries. I am reading all the comments and keeping a note of interesting activities I could try.
