Hi, Has anyone tried the actvities 2 go magazine ? I have heard about this but know very little. It would be helpful if someone can let me know how much it costs for the magazine and is it worth while.
I think this is a wonderful idea, but i have a question if anyone can help. Is it appropriate to run Anzac Day on April 24th as our community centre is only open on Wednesday and Thursday. Anzac Day is on a Thursday this year and our centre does not open on public holidays. What is the general opinon of most people. I am not sure if I should run it, don't want to be politically incorrect. Thanks Debbie

thanks for this activity. I used this today with our pre australia day activity at our day centre. most were amazed that we aussies invented these wonderful things. Are'nt we clever!!! It opened up a good discussion theme for our Australia day. Thanks for the information
This is a wonderful idea. At our Day Centre last year we knitted squares and made them into blankets for the animal welfare league and donated them. Also old blankets and towels were cut into smaller sizes so they could be used as towels to wash the shelter animals. we visited the centre with our clients and saw how the shelter was run and ofcourse the animals who would benenfit from the blankets in winter. Now is the time to knit those squares ready for winter if any body else might be interested in doing the some sort of thing. cheers debbie
In our community group we have a range of capabilities and we also need to cater for our hostel clients with various degree of memory loss.
This is one games that you can use for all levels of cognative function.
use clip art photos and laminate the ones you choose. select various pictures that show "actions" such as knitting, jumping over a puddle, making a cup of tea. You can choose the level of difficulty for the clients by colour coding using "dots". Red for hard, Yellow for intermediate and green for easy. This way you can distribute the cards amoungst the group according to their ability. This enables a large group of clients with various cognative functions and abilities to share in the experience and interaction with each other.
We have played this a few times and everyone enjoys this game, nice to hear the laughter that some of the acting creates. Try this one at your centre or nursing home
Hi, Can any one who is using a WII for activities let me know what they think of their residents using it. Iam thinking of purchasing one from Ebay and would like to know if there are any quizzes or mental stimulation games that are worth considering.I have looked at WII sports and this would be ok.
Thank you so much for allowing us to share all the wonderful ideas that are on Golden Carers. It is so helpful, inspiring and they give our residents so much fun and the feeling of achievement once we have completed them. It is great that we can spread the days out and do a lot over time rather than in one session. THANK YOU ALL
