The new game posted by a member of "Once upon a Time" where everyone contributes to a story sentence by sentence, has been adapted by me for our next meeting. It sounds to be a very good game to get everyone involved who hardly ever contributes to discussions whether by lack of confidence, shyness or just not wanting to. We will try it out at our next meeting and report back. Copy posted separately.

Most Seniors can remember the nursery rhymes that they learned as a kid but how many of them can recall all the words now. A game we played at the Redwood Club here in Tawa, Wellington was to give them the first few lines of a nursery rhyme and ask them to finish it. This did bring back many memories, especially when they could not remember what the completion was and had to be told.
An interest we at The Redwood Club in Wellington tried recently was a visit to a garden model railway. Most were not at all interested in gardens or model railways or both but with a little persuasion we managed to take everyone on the outing. Our host really turned it on for the visit with chairs in the shade, drinks and nibbles as well as the trains running through the garden. Everyone came away enthusiastic over the visit and could not stop talking about it, This was a great success which could be repeated again or with some other hobby such as the vintage cars already mentioned above. Your Golden Carers site is full of ideas. Thank you sincerely.
Great Talita, I have a series of Guessing Games which I am working on at the present. I will send these to you when completed. I loved your Scouting Quiz and got 100% correct. There would have been something wrong if I had failed any of the questions, my having now cherished just over 80 years in the Scout Movement as a member through the ranks, volunteer leader, trainer as well as a professional recruiter and editor. My first book on 100 years of The Scout Movement in New Zealand is sold out with Books 2 and 3 now taking shape. Owen Life Member Scouts New Zealand
And a Happy New Year to you too Talita, Ivy, and all the others at Golden Carers. A new year and a new challenge. After a break for the holidays we resume activities at the Redwood Club again on 10 January. A new manager takes over and I await the policy for accepting new material from me to assist the voluntary staff with programmes of activities as before. As well as the huge fund of ideas from Golden Carers to draw on, I have my own files of activities I wrote for Scouts New Zealand which I am able to pass on to for your inclusion in the Golden Carers site. Many of these activities have been used by Scouts around the world and as our "Good Deed" we are pleased to pass them on for others to enjoy. I work in "Outlook Publisher" but if you are unable to accept that I can convert them to PDF. Please advise and I will prepare and send a sample shortly. Owen
It is coming up to our last meeting for the year prior to Christmas at the Redwood Club in Tawa, Wellington and there are just so many topical quizzes and activities to choose from in your Golden Carers website that there has been very little trouble making up a programme to fill in the day for the residents. These quizzes and activities are very well received testing memories and some even creating a good laugh. I enjoy researching them out and usually have to keep silent when it comes to a point that I might be giving the answers away. I am looking forward to ushering in the new year with new and relevant programme material from Golden Carers when we resume again in January. Owen
We are now closed for the Christmas break but have enjoyed the recent planned activities, particularly those we adapted from Golden Carers. Much enjoyed is basketball, shooting into different size and numbered cane made baskets as the attached photo shows. It is sometimes necessary to vary the length of the shooting distance to suit the age and ability of our more senior members. Happy Christmas to all . Owen
