This is something that we began doing in our Sundowning evening program for some of the male residents. The possibilities are endless and they really seem to enjoy it.
I to have done similar activity with a lady who used to work in bank. I gave her real pennies + monopoly money for notes and bank bags. She would sit at her bank and count, sort and bag for part of each day.
I have some receipts made up, one general one and one for meals. I created these for a resident who became agitated, particularly at meal times when he couldn't pay. When he is given a receipt he relaxes and will eat because he believes he has already paid for his meal. The other receipt works in more general circumstances. Remember to check pockets after though before they go through the washing machine!!
I have seen these note pads of money, do any of the residents ever question the blank side of the note, I would not like to see any resident get distressed about this if they have question how did you deal with it

Yeah I put it away in the activity cupboard which locks. However I have had to replace the money on the odd occasion due to the amount decreasing. But they are cheap enough to buy. I originally bought it for a resident who seemed stressed about not having his wallet or money so I was going to make up a wallet for his peace of mind but this seems to have helped abit.
I always appreciate your new ideas and suggestions. It certainly helps in the creativity and idea areas immensely. Keep up the great emotional support that you provide!
