Hi Narda, The hot towel thinks to be a great idea! How do you warm them up? Do you have any procedure ready what you can share, please? I would love to have a private chat in email about it. Can we have a chat? Excellent idea for the Dementia residents and the rest. Please let me know: [email protected] Best wishes, Betty
Hi Guys, I would like to ask if your facility uses Facebook for family/friends communication. If you do; can you share your rules and experiences . I'm not sure if it's the way but I need your advise , please. Thanks heaps!
Hi Fiona, I arrange a ;'Welcome pack' for all new residents: a plastic small basket with shampoo, conditioner, a nice plastic cup, hand cream, a bar of soap, a nail set and a welcome card (made by a resident) -all wrapped. In the same time , fresh flowers in a vase in the room before arrival. Best wishes.
Hi Jill, They are very expensive, but you can find a person who can sew with a machine and ask to help. Suggestions: 1. Choose a strong bright coloured material, to cope and need to be washed regularly ,too. 2. Zips, buckles, buttons all in larger size and colours 3. Large beads on strings 4. different materials 5. packets with buttons & buttonholes For ideas just search on the internet and you can find a lot of great ideas. Good luck
Hi Liz, We have 'Italian cafe' ones a months; Italian volunteers bringing Italian biscuits, making real Italian cafe (cooked) in nice cups. They have a good chat and laugh, than they watch an Italian movie or listen to Italian music of their choice from the library . Good luck
Hi Sam, I made a A3 size 'Activities Wish List' laminated and placed in each areas. I use white board markers to write up items we looking for. Visitors, family members keep looking out to check the list. If you can allocate a donation box next to it, you will get lots of items. Best wishes
Hi Theresa, We have a friend who can cut out larger size puzzles (animals, cars etc) .Our gents sand them then ,oil them with food oil than we donate them to a preschool. Simple, practical and no cost as we get off cuts from hardware shops. Some ladies joint the group latterly, they all love the activity. They love the pre schoolers visiting, when they can give them the ready puzzles in a special afternoon tea.
