Hello fellow members. I have a resident who loves to write letters looking for someone to write to and who can reply to his letters. He written letters to all the staff and has exhausted his avenues. He has early some cognitive decline and is living here with his wife who has a Diagnosis of Dementia. I hoping other members may have someone similar who would like to correspond with my client. we have a group come to us twice a month. During special occasions, like Easter, we do biscuit decorating. We use milk arrowroot biscuits as they are shaped like an Easter egg and involve both groups in making the icing and decorating the biscuits. I have an array of different coloured sprinkles and other toppings to use e.g. mini m&ms etc. The best part is they get to eat their creations which is always a popular treat! Other thinks I have done making book marks which involves colouring and laminating. i always find having something the children can take away with them is always a success and great talking point.

Entertainers!
Hello fellow members from Perth Metro area. I am in the process of booking entertainment for next year and was hoping that someone may be able to recommend some tried entertainers that would be great for a dementia specific high care facility. A few of my trusted entertainers are retiring and I will need some new contacts to fill my schedule. Look forward to your suggestions. Thanks everyone

Thanks for the feedback. I have a couple of other questions for you if you don't mind answering them... what type of benefits have you seen with using the Diffuser? Have you noted any improvements within the residents whilst it has been operational? What other oils do you use with it if any and what policies and procedures have you got set around the use of the Diffuser?

Diffusers....
Hello fellow members, our facility has recently started a wellness clinic and we are searching for new ideas to run on a weekly basis. Any ideas of what works for you would be greatly received! We are high care dementia specific which makes the task a little more challenging.

I would also like to hear of any feedback you may have on the use of diffusers within your facility. What processes do you have in place, is there a certain brand you recommend and do you have issues with smoke alarms at all?

Our CEO is interested in setting up a Facebook and Instagram page relating to our facility.
I was wondering who has ventured down this path and what guidelines you have in place relating to legalities etc.
