Sandstrom Aged Care

Jacqui, We are a small facility each year we have a Grandparents day when grandchildren are invited to come along to visit, with games, BBQ also pets are also invited. We also hold a family fun day which includes a concert, finger food, lucky dips etc. These occasions are really enjoyed by all. Also during the year we use our craft groups to make items that we can sell on these days to fundraise. ie painted plant pots, bookmarks, cards, bric-a-brac stall.

We have also done this activity, but we bought cheap terracotta pots and in our craft group decorated them, this took at least four to five activity sessions from decorating to planting the residents then had their own individual pot.

This is a wonderful field in aged care and all I can tell you that with residents you will have a great time learning about then take your time. This is a terrific site for ideas and networking so keep in touch and I'm sure we will help you all we can.

Hi Melanie, you might like to try mobile snoezelen, decorate attrolley with lights and oil burner and take from room to room,residents really enjoy and find it very stimulating
