Our residents prefer not to have music played at meal times. We have a number of DVD's of photos collections or an aquarium that we can play without sound, this gives people something to look at. Sport, cricket, tennis etc. is often a request and we allow this without sound. Conversation in the dining room is encouraged. Management prefer music, but our current residents do not.
Hi Mary, We have a morning exercise program that takes 30 mins. Each resident has a pair of .5 kg weights. We breath in and out moving weights up and down x5 This is then followed by a range of movements with weights. We then do a standing balance set, using the chair in front for balance. Another set of breathing no weights. Then 15 mins of gentle chair exercises to music. The physio helped put this together. Some residents have slight modifications. The program finishes with more breathing. Residents can ask for heavy weights as they feel more confident. We do this 5 days per week and everyone enjoys the program. Lyn.
We recognize ANZAC day on the nearest working day prior. This then allows our residents to take part in the official events in the community on ANZAC Day. We always give our returned service men and women special acknowledgement at this service and involve them in creating our floral tribute which is then taking to the service on the day. Our local RSL is also able to send a guest speaker if it is not conflicting with their events. The local state government member of parliament has a DVD of the National anthem to use as part of the service, words are on screen and there is a variety of style to choose from to personalize your service send an email, or write. They can also help with a new flag.
