We are also looking at using these card for patients who have had strokes and MS and that is only the spectrum we have so far. We are going to speak to our colleagues in young adult services to see if any of their communication cards could be adapted to meet our needs and vice a versa
Here in the UK this year our week has been extended to incorporate the Queens 90th birthday. So our Volunteers "week" is 1st to the 12th June ending with our big Street party celebrating her majesties big day. I know our home will be decked in red white and blue that weekend I can assure you!
I have a new lady who has just come in with Schizophrenia and I am trying that with her now, getting her to sit still for longer than thirty seconds though is our challenge at the moment. We are hoping this is just her settling in nerves, I will be working with her closely to help her settle her into our home
I believe here in the UK it is four to one but that is rarely met I must admit in our home especially if an entertainer is in. I am lucky that I have a few relatives that come in regularly that can lend a helping hand on craft and baking days otherwise I would need four pairs of hands let alone two!
I co-own and operate a small assisted living home in Pittsfield, NH (U.S.A.). We consistently seek ways to improve upon our senior activity program, providing a diversified balance of a purposeful and enjoyable time of recreation, crafting, exercise and others to reach all of our residents. I must say, it's been a challenge. This past October I began researching options online and came across your site, subscribing for a year to see what you were all about. Let me tell you, you have not disappointed! Your site is a priceless resource that we are extremely thankful for. We find a significant increase in resident participation and look forward to the new ideas that each month brings. Our residents love the changes!
