The Australian Journal of Dementia Care recently had an article about the use of Sensory Stories for people with dementia. The stories are essentially 8-10 simple sentences about a topic (eg going to the beach) and have sensory experiences attached to each sentence (eg rubbing on suncreen, listening to a shell, feeling sand etc). The article was UK based, so the resources in the links may not be exactly the same as for an Australian experience - going to the beach is a great example! Has anyone developed any sensory stories in Australia that might be able to be used in residential aged care? Would love your feedback and any experiences you have had in this space - Thanks :)
This is my go to site. I have looked at the others, but Golden Carers has a sense of fun and creativity that makes the activities we do enjoyable for all. They are adaptable for all levels. We did the Olympic Day and had a blast. Everyone got up and participated !!! Thank you.
