Hi Shelly.. I too have been looking for good summer bulletin board ideas (that's when I saw your post, as I was searching GC)! The ones I find on Pinterest are usually too kiddish. You could always choose something not specific to summer. I will keep looking for other ideas and thinking of things on my own and will get back to you.
Good point, Susan (we do have some horders)!!! Actually, I think one book for each of them would be a good idea. The staff has "resident profiles" of each person, but I wanted something more special - a little book. As you said, it would be nice for them to look at it to see things they have done. I also was thinking of including some poetry for each. I know it's a project, but we have a great group of family members who are very engaged in their loved ones care and usually willing to help. Thanks very much for your response.
Hi, I'd like to put some sort of a book together focusing on each of the residents in a memory care facility (kind of a bio). I'm having a hard time planning it out (should I have a separate book for each resident or one book with a little something about each person)? I wanted to include things like photos of what their favorite things are, etc. Any suggestions on how to put this together? Thank you.
Thank you so much, Susan. The information you gave me helped a great deal, and I'm getting busy gathering and printing. I just recently joined Golden Carers, and I'm very happy I did. Thanks again for your support. Best regards, Denise
Hi... I work in a new memory care facility. One of the things the residents most enjoy is when I do "finish the lyrics". We end up singing (or trying to sing but never seem to know all the words). Although It's still lots of fun, I'm trying to find good sing a long music with the lyrics. They do have a couple of sets, but the songs are kind of slow and not so popular. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!
I just recently joined this site also and let me tell you it is WONDERFUL!!!! I am an activity director at a senior center and not only do our older seniors enjoy it but we also have a group respite program geared towards participants with dementia and Alzheimer's, that respond really well to the trivia/quizzes that the website offers. I am so thankful to have this site as a resource to assist with enhancing their quality of life!
