I would like to ask DT's, lifestyle carers etc, what time does your working day start and could you provide me with a typical run down on your day please, say for a 40 bed unit with high and low care mixed. And do you also have an assistant, likeasocial nurse?

Help with suggestions pls. 40 person unit. 3 men are wanderers. 2 get into everything and everywhere. One can be violent & turn in an instant, the other has the potential to be so. I know it's their dementia and they can't help it. The DT starts at 6am and is gone by 3pm. We have a social nurse until around 5pm. However these behaviours generally start after dinner, when these staff are gone. Nurses are unable to focus on their other tasks with one nurse having to entertain/take care of these 2 in particular..Staff are tired, very tired.

You're right Susan! Wow indeed Cindy. You are very knowledgeable. I can't exactly pinpoint the reason why this female resident is the way she is, except I notice she always seems to be looking for praise ( " I spoke to the boss about getting all the new furniture.. She listens to me! One of her diagnosis is somataform. But I can't help but think ALOT her problem is she wants people to notice her, whether by yelling out in grp activities or saying, 'oh the pain in my back!'.. Then will engage in sitacise 10mins later.
I also wonder if CBD/ mindfulness therapy could help.

Hi All! Does anyone have suggestions for the resident in the activity group, who is the loudest, answers all the Q's. Doesn't give others the opportunity to engage? What do you do!?

Does anyone have photos of their armchair travel activity? And how long did your activity go for? I'm thinking of those becoming disinterested.
