Hi Bridget I LOVE doing this event. We decorated our main dining room with different western decorations....created a stage area, with hay on the floor and a saw horse with a saddle on it for our entertainer. We used wagon wheels, ropes, hay bales just to name a few for decorations. We uses checkered table cloths and served drinks from mason jars. our centerpieces were jars with sunflowers in them. Hope this helps...
Men's Activity Have you thought of the R.O.M.E.O. club? R.O.M.E.O stands for Retired Old Men Eating Out. It is a great group and the men love going to Hooters or even Cracker Barrell. A checkers tournament could begin.
Hi Sophia, You can ask families/staff to donate their unwanted costume jewelry/brooches/neckties for your gentleman and McDonalds happy meal coupons. jackpot round could win a makeover with a photo shoot and give the photo to the family member for Christmas/Birthday etc. Hope this helps.
I just love love love this site - each time I'm glued to the many and awesome ideas to engage with our seniors. I recently downloaded some of the crossword puzzles and these seniors are fabulous to work with. That is just the tip of the iceberg. In this new chapter of my life, as semi-retired, I am so enjoying my time with seniors and watching them light up; I feel I've found a new niche. It's extremely gratifying. As to the cost of membership, it came out of my pocket - I rationalised that it was only about $3/month, less than many magazines. So keep up the GREAT work!!! Thanks again Golden Carers!!!!!
