I pulled all the Men together to make care packages for Troops over seas. (My vendors all supplied the items to go in the carepackages and I contacted the Blue Star Moms non-profit who provided the boxes and mailed them for us! Completely no out of pocket for us!
I am in need of Bingo prize ideas. We hold Bingo every Mon, Wed & Friday and each participant get to pick some candy from the Bingo bucket. However, I keep score and at the end of the month the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners get a bigger prize. It used to be gift cards to their favorite stores/restaurants but now that we can't do outings that isn't working. The residents haven't given me much suggestions other than that they are sick of body washes, shampoo, tissues, etc. That doesn't leave me much to go on. Any suggestions out there on prizes you give out? Thanks!
Hi everyone, just wanted to share something I am doing next week and thought you might want to 'steal'. Since I can't take my residents to a pumpkin patch, I am bringing the pumpkin patch to them! I reached out to a couple vendors and I have 75 pumpkins being delivered Thursday morning! My Med-Tech owns a farm and is bringing in bales of hay, saddles, a back drop, a scarecrow etc. We are setting everything up in our courtyard as the residents can come outside and pick a pumpkin or two for their room. I will have a pumpkin decorating table and a dessert table with apple cider, pumpkin cookies, muffins etc. I can't wait!
What is everyone doing to celebrate Halloween? Are y'all and your residents dressing up? Tomorrow we are having a Zombie Hunt and today we are doing chair exercises to the song, "Monster Mash" but I don't yet have anything planned for closer to the day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone have any fun themed activities for National Assisted Living week? My Sister community is doing Oscar nights...with the residents attending a different "premier" three nights next week. My ED isn't crazy about the idea and wants for me to come up with something else. So far I was thinking, A Spirit Day on Monday, Hawaiian Day on Wednesday and maybe a Carnival on Friday but I'm afraid all 3 would be too costly and out of budget. The Oscar idea is nice as it only 8 residents at a time can attend but it just repeats itself with just a different movie, definitely more cost effective.
What are some fun door to door activities you've all been doing? I'm in Houston and yesterday we got a few new resident's from our Sister community due to the Hurricane Laura evacuation so we are now in quarantine...we aren't allowed to do hallway activities. I can only do one and one in room activities. Today I did "Catch of the day" and had each resident guess how many gold fish were in a bowl and the closest won a prize. I did it with the employees as well. I am in need of door to door activities to do tomorrow and Friday. Any suggestions would be GREAT!
Cornhole Horse shoes (you can get big plastic ones..we use them in our hallways) bowling with plastic pins/ball water balloon toss put a bunch of suckers in a bowl with some of them "marked", if a resident picks a marked sucker they win a little prize. Bubble station where they can blow bubbles Ring toss...they toss large plastic rings onto toilet plungers
I absolutely love this website. I check my emails everyday hoping for a newsletter. The information and activities are the best, I use them all the time :)
