Thank you Susan for taking the time to direct me to resources which will help the students to have an overview of what a care plan is and how to produce activities for elderly residents.

May I ask if anyone has an example of a care plan (without a name in it) that I can show students.

Also any template to help them plan out activities for a patient with dementia.
What do they need to consider when planning an activity for a dementia patient?

Hi. I would very much like some more help please.

I have done some initial research and shared information with my students on the types, causes and symptoms of dementia. Thank you to Golden Carers for your assistance, the students found the links very helpful. They also found the link on activities for people with dementia helpful.

Would it be possible for you help me with another query:

1) Examine the effects on dementia on people who have the condition.
Are there links to any useful websites / information about this please?

2) If possible, please provide approximately 6 - 8 Case study examples of elderly people (no names) in a residential care home with different types of dementia / different medical issues, so that I can use these case studies with the students who can then consider suitable activities for different elderly people in a care home.

3) Explain the concept of person-centred care?
What factors are considered for people who have dementia to maintain quality of life and wellbeing?

Students will need to research the above questions.

Golden Carers suggested that I post information asking for help.

I have just started assisting with teaching Health and Social Care at a College of Further Education. I am doing project based learning with a group of students linked to students collaborating with a Care Home that provides 24 hour nursing care including supporting residents with dementia.

Students are working towards the following learning aims:

Examine the types, causes and symptoms of dementia
Examine the effects of dementia on people who have the condition
investigate he concept of person-centred care for people who have dementia to maintain quality of life and wellbeing

If you have information / presentations, case study examples, I would be grateful if you would kindly let me know as I would like to learn more about this area of health and social care in order to support the students.

With COVID it is not possible for students to do work experience, so hopefully this project will raise their awareness on the topic of dementia.
